Production Checklist

Ensuring your order at Sony DADC runs trouble-free is easy! Before transferring your components to us, please consider the following points to avoid the most common problems:

Regarding Artwork & Packaging

  • Are all of your components labelled with the appropriate catalogue-number?
  • Are all films marked with their respective colours?
  • Has the artwork data been prepared according to Sony DADC specifications?
  • When sending physical films, please make sure they are wrapped carefully so that they do not get damaged during transport
  • Should your product include a booklet, please ensure the input films are numbered in the right order, or enclose a copy of the finished booklet
  • If you transfer artwork data via CD-R, FTP or ISDN make sure to include the necessary explanations
  • Sony DADC should be informed in advance of ISDN- and FTP-transfers so that we can inform our Graphic Studio as soon as possible.

Regarding the Labelfilm

  • Does your labelfilm include the appropriate catalogue-number?
  • Are all films marked with their respective colours?
  • Is the correct logo on your labelfilm?
  • Did you prepare the labelfilm according to Sony DADC specifications?
  • Have you made use of the appropriate line width?
  • Does your order form contain the correct colour specifications in Pantone or CMYK?
  • Should we make the background completely white? If so, please inform us at order placement!

Regarding SecuROM™ copy protection for CD-ROM or DVD-ROM

If you send in a protected master, please note:

  • We need to know which exe file(s) has been protected, e.g. "applgame.exe"
  • The master has to be marked "SecuROM protected"

If Sony DADC has to protect the application:

  • Please state on the master and the order form: "Protect with SecuROM"
  • Please be aware that the latest SecuROM version (V7) does not support Windows 95 and NT anymore - if your application should work with these operating system please ask for SecuROM Version 5 to be used.
  • By default SecuROM checks the disc every time the application is startet. If you'd like to change this please let us know how often the disc should be checked: e.g. only once, every 3rd launch, every 30 days...
  • Please be aware that we have to change the .exe-file, so please make sure that the executable is uncompressed and not part of an install container file.
  • Typically a SecuROM™ protected .exe-file becomes about 800 kByte longer. Please disable any checksum or filesize checks for the executable.
  • The executable should be in 32-bit standard Windows format. i.e. C, C++, Visual Basic, Pascal, and Macromedia Director.
  • We generally recommend to have the executable installed on the hard disc of the end consumer's PC, this way patches and updates are possible without having to change the disc.

To avoid any delay in delivery, for audio productions please ensure that the mechanical rights clearence is presented at the time of ordering (via notification of No Claim or your contract). For your local mechanical rights authorisation see: http://www.biem.org.
